Dreaming Earth Apothecary

Set in the heart of an intentional community within the beautiful and peaceful setting of the walled garden, Dreaming Earth Apothecary offers you a holistic approach to your health and wellbeing through herbal treatment as well as general lifestyle and dietary support.

I love to support women through all stages of their life and especially during the changes and thresholds such as menarche, conception, pregnancy (including miscarriage and baby loss), birth, the postpartum, motherhood and menopause. The journey through womanhood comes with both joys and challenges, and I bring to my practice as a herbalist my experiences of being a woman and a mother and all the tools I have found useful along the way. I support women during these important changes as well as in supporting you with menstrual & gynaecological issues and generally to optimise your health and wellbeing. I invite you to participate in your healing journey on a psychospiritual level as well as taking the practical steps that are required.

I offer support to families wanting to support the health of babies & children naturally and holistically. I offer herbal medicine consultations  and workshops too enable you gain confidence in using herbs at home as well as educate your little ones about the incredible medicine cabinet to be found on our doorstep and how to make your own remedies.

I grow (or wildcraft) and make about 50% of the herbal remedies in my dispensary and always try and get the best quality organic herbs when buying in those I can't make myself

About Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine can be traced back to the beginning of human history and is still the main system of medicine used by over 80% of the population around the world.

Western Herbal medicine involves using medicinal plants to support the body’s own healing mechanisms during illness, as well as through prevention by addressing early signs of imbalance before they manifest in the form of chronic disease. When prescribed by a herbalist, herbs are safe and rarely cause unwanted side-effects.

My Approach

I believe health is not just the absence of disease but can be experienced as an inherent sense of vitality and wellbeing. My aim is to listen and allow space to find out what is blocking this state of health and support you in regaining it. Though my role is to offer my support and knowledge, I believe that you and your body hold the keys to your health and my sessions will reflect this through inviting you to fully participate in your healing journey. This could involve practices that support your own intuitive and embodied knowing so that you feel empowered and able to choose how this healing work unfolds (see more below).

Plants have their own energetic profile, as well as their own physical or chemical properties.  Through understanding their energetic qualities, seeing where they grow and observing what they look like (the doctrine of signatures), working with them through intuitive, experiential and reflective practices I create a connection with them as individual beings and allies. This helps me to match the plant to the person and so offer an individualised and holistic approach.

I also work with plants in a more direct and experiential way through one-to-one or group sessions. I find that plants can offer a doorway into aspects or qualities within us. Through exploring within us the reflections they offer, integration is possible and an opportunity to expand our consciousness and our inner capacity to meet ourselves and be of service to life. I find plants can help us remember our connection to ourselves as nature as well as the beauty, mystery and teachings they offer us (and we offer ourselves through this process). I have observed how this work also supports the journey within us of de-colonisation, re-wilding of the soul and home-coming to our essential selves and to the Earth. I find this work inspiring, empowering and deeply healing. I am so grateful to the plants for all that we receive from them.

Herbal Treatment

The first consultation lasts up to 1.5 hours and involves taking a full case history, looking at your tongue and carrying out any relevant examinations. I then write a prescription and give general lifestyle and dietary advice as well as sending you a written treatment plan). Please allow up to 15 minutes wait while I make up the medicine (or alternatively can collect it another time).

Follow-up appointments are usually arranged every three weeks at first (then to 6 weeks) and last between 30 and 40 minutes.

Children: I recommend that children have an initial full consultation before I see them for short acute appointments. This means I have their medical history and get a sense of their constitutional type and tendencies towards specific types of illnesses and can choose herbs accordingly. For recurrent acute issues, I recommend having a full consultation (include a written treatment plan) and addressing the root cause of the issue through daily herbs, diet and lifestyle changes. The time and cost of appointments depends on the age of the child. Please contact me for an estimate or see prices below.

Plant Allies for Women Individual Sessions: These can be a stand alone approach to working with issues and/or in combination with herbal treatment. I currently I offer these on a donation basis:  Suggested donation: £30-50 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

I offer a space for you to explore your connection with plants (and the medicine that they are) through practices such as: spending time with them where they grow; tea tasting meditations; drawing; guided journeys; bodywork and/or movement. As well as how to integrate these practices into your life. See more above on 'My Approach'.

I am passionate about connecting people with plants. I support people in learning how to identify plants, harvest them, make herbal remedies and use local herbs. I am dedicated to growing medicinal plants and re-wilding the land with ‘weeds’, thus restoring nature’s own medicine cabinet. This supports us in creating a sustainable future which does not only rely on oil-based conventional medicines but which empowers people to take charge of their own health and connect with nature.
